The Horse at Dusk

We drove through a grey, concrete road with the yellow line fading in and out of it. The dark branches extended from the right, dotted with luxuriantly green leaves, glowing in the sun like Greek Fire.

The emerald green undertones of the forest gave you a sense of peace and serenity, reminding you of millions of different things- a quiet meadow in the middle of the woods, a pond covered with water lilies and lotus flowers ranging in color from white to magenta The pond was surrounded by lush green willows whose leaves encircled it like a natural curtain, and the soft ground were dotted with tufts of fresh green moss. Grey, soft-edged rocks line parts of the pond, creating  a sort of a natural fantasy.

That was one way you could describe how those emerald green undertones make you feel - or you could also say they made you feel like you were drowning in a pool of green emeralds, or a small lawn of fresh, green grass. There’s a large variaty of options to describe it.

Then, we drove past a small farm- a large plain-looking farmhouse, and right in front of it was a fence, rectangularly shaped, clustered around a ground full of dirt and hay. A single horse, majestic and brown in all its glory, roamed about, now and then, rubbing its face against the ground.

Driving past this horse wasn’t anything great or remarkable now, but if you just paused to think about it, you could see that this horse could mean a lot.

For instance, if you were going through a tough time it could represent the solitude you were suffering during that time. Or, if you were on the more optimistic side, that horse could represent something more: your independency, your strength and resilience. Or, if you will, your enjoyment of the solitude.

For the imagination of the human mind, which you can let fly free, that horse could be a shape-shifter, a Pegasus  in disguise, an evolved modern centaur for fans of Greek Mythology (Percy Jackson), or a unicorn in hiding, waiting for the right youngster to discover and release it into a dream, a book, a painting, or anything else.

My own thoughts? A wandering soul in the form of a horse, waiting for someone, something, anything to come and set it free, waiting to go somewhere else and live a better life with its family. It now lives as a horse, waiting either for the horse’s natural death to release it and give it a new life, or for someone to release it and give it meanings.

My point is, as small and insignificant as something is deemed as or seems, it could just be a window of opportunity you needed in life, your extra stepping stone or the extra nut or bolt you didn’t realize you needed.

You just need to find, for example, this horse, it could be the start of an author’s bestselling book, from their very imagination. SInce nothing really contributes 100 percent, you always need a team. For example, the horse alone couldn’t have inspired the author’s bestseller, the author’s imagination also was a helper in its success.
